-- Frame Number One -- Single Speed Mountain Bike

Well, last time I had the front triangle in place except for the down tube. In the last week I managed to find time to get the downtube mitered and in place. I think there is still some room for improvement on the miters where they don't match up 100%, so I plan to do some work with those today to get the fit just a bit closer to exact. But here is the head-tube/down-tube junction in progress. This one is a deep cut, so it is a bit hard to get the file on the deep portion of the cut without also running into the shallow side at the same time. It just requires patience.

I did not take in progress photos of the down-tube/bottom bracket junction, but this guy was fun too. This one is a compound miter and is a challenge to cut accurately as well.

I also did not show the miters without the templates on last time, so here they are along with one of the whole front triangle fitted in the jig. It is looking like it might just be time to start welding these up after I do a bit more cleanup on the miters.

I feel like I am making pretty good progress here, and may actually have something rideable in a month or so. We'll see how that pans out, I still have to fit up the rear triangle so that may be an optimistic assessment. Now... go ride your bike!
